Video upload to githubusercontent instead of Youtube, good idea.
I was intrigued and wondering how easyw-fc did that.

Turns out that you only need to upload the video to a GitHub repo. This video is in this repo: https://github.com/easyw/FreeCAD-tutori ... ting-files

But what I find awesome, is that the forum video tag works with a GitHub URL!

But let's not forget that GitHub was recently bought by Microsoft. ;)

Concerning the box selecing tool from set colors, I know this, but there is an big difference, it selects faces in front and below, the face selecting tool from Cimmatron and Creo detects what in front and what below.
But it's a usable hack, better than no solution.
In Cimatron you can choose to select things in Front or also the back side. Further you can Filter Elements; Lines, chains, Points, faces, objects and also you can Selec colors

in the German forum user polymer created a video to show defeaturing tools in a closed source software called Cimmatron. Very powerful tools as well as the face selecting tools I would like to see in Freecad.

this can be achieved in a tricky way with FC and Defeaturing WB ;)
I'm using the Face Box selection for coloring faces and I add the selection to my tools...

Glad it is working fine! :D
And moreover the new OCC de-featuring features ( :) ) are really awesome!
BTW I would need to wait for OCC7.3 deployed for FC Win... I have Ubi only on a VM ;)

+1
Today I tried the new feature in part-workbench, with some customer step-files and it's really pretty nice. :D
What a great and helpful feature for my daily work.

My new video concerning the new defeaturing tool from the Part workbench:

I tried to use PeerTube, not bad for the first test.
The video is in German language.

The video is easy to understand without understanding german. For short the meaning of the spoken words can be reduced to "select faces" and "click defeature" with pretty much enthusiasm. There is one scene which might be of importance where Wilfried warns that selecting too much at once might be be too heavy for the defeaturing tool.

Wilfried, excuse and correct me if I have simplified too much.

Very ingenious to use the "Define colors..." contextual menu on a shape to use its face selection utility.

This kind of selection could be helpful in other places too:

- in FEM to define application of forces
- Path to define pockets and profiles
- define ShapeBinders
- ...

I used this trick in my above video, but it would be nice to have the face selection tool available without the need to go to the color interface ...
ATM we have Box selection also in the normal Gui (Shift + B), but this is working for solids; it would be nice to have i.e. (Shift+Ctrl+B) to select faces
