(Sort of) RC Car wheel

Post by Walgri »

Hi,

I just wanted to share a rc car wheel lookalike model I did just to get a grasp on Freecad.

It's mainly constituted by three sketches: the wheel section, and two more sketches for the holes.

I have left the third sketch partially unconstrained because I wanted to freely tweak it with the mouse.

Freecad: what a wonderful discovery !!

Yes indeed. Instead of all that technical "3D Parametric Modeler Software " words this could make more sense for now. Anyway nice work with the wheel.

Same technique I use to my wheels. Very nice job!

I´m looking for some method to do a car body with FreeCad. There is any sort of "shell" function? (I was Alibre user...)

Hi, thanks !

I'm just a beginner, as far I can understand, Freecad has the possibility to actually show complex nurbs, but lacks the tools to create and edit them. So far I'm trying to model car bodies in Blender, using a STL export of the model car internals as a guide.

You could try some splines and use the sweep-tool.
Or you could model everything as a complete solid and use the part-thickness-tool.
