I would also very much love to see this in the master and fully support the idea to leave out the advanced functionality for now, but can we really go with this design? :|

Can you elaborate with "can we really go with this design" ?

Are you implying that there are something bothers you?

Are you referring to the functionality, aesthetic or code quality?

I like it, but don't you (others?) think it is a problem that it looks the same as Onshape's?

Well that was my intention [to make it as close to Onshape as possible], so obviously I do not see that as a problem.

I think it is an advantage when different systems have similar features which behave in familiar ways.

IMO Onshape gets so many things right (of course it is far from perfect and evolving) that I would not mind if Freecad were to become more or less an Onshape clone. But that is not for me to say and that is not my goal, I just wanted to do my little bit and this was a nice little project.

In every project it is the ambition of many developers to improve on competition and make a better product. That is a nice goal but most end users don't really care.

What they would like to have is something good enough but Free (in every sense of the word) software.

Or are you suggesting that Onshape somehow 'owns' that cube design?

As far as i can see Onshape us a kind of dice like cube and Inventor uses a cube with sharp corners.
It is all somewhat the same. there are not that many flavours...

From my understanding, if it looks absolutely the same it could be an copyright issue.

First of all It does not look exactly the same.

Also, can anyone point a case where copyright would have been invoked in comparable instance.

This is not an icon or graphics but a widget that changes appearance and I don't see how copyright could be invoked on it:

Apple tried the "look and feel" law suit against Microsoft and failed.

For me it looks like a dice, so it's not really something that can be copyrighted.
