https://blogs.gnome.org/mdhill/2017/06/ ... t-demands/In the interim I continued to do remarkable things with FreeCAD. I’ll use the proprietary software for details related to transferring the files, but FreeCAD is very close to keeping my CAD experience Windows-free.

Re: FreeCAD on the web
Since I use FC to generate 3D models for 3D printing here some links to web-platforms offering 3D printing services and mention/consider/compare FreeCAD for 3D modeling :
* I.materialise :
https://i.materialise.com/3d-design-tools/freecad
* Sculpteo :
https://www.sculpteo.com/blog/2017/04/0 ... -software/
https://www.sculpteo.com/en/tutorial/pr ... g-freecad/
* shapeways :
at least FC is listed as supported application even if the link is pointing to a non-existing page on sourceforge EDIT: wrote them to correct it to freecadweb.org:

Re: FreeCAD on the web
What is this???
"Still, if you want to get more advanced features, you will have to buy some upgrading package."
"FreeCAD
As FreeCAD uses Parametric modeling it can be used by different kind of users from the home user to the programmer. You don’t need to have a previous CAD experience to use it, and if you have difficulties in your first steps the FreeCAD community will be there to help you. This software is mainly used by engineers and architects because it’s features are adapted to mechanical engineering. A free software comparable to the best-paying ones!
Still, if you want to get more advanced features, you will have to buy some upgrading package.
Files Format: STEP, IGES, STL, SVG, DXF, OBJ, IFC, DAE, OFF and Fcstd
Download it!"

Re: FreeCAD on the web
English isn't even my first language and every time I see such a stupid grammar mistake I do a facepalm.
(it's = it is!!!)
On the other hand, this text was probably not written by a native English speaker.
Re: FreeCAD on the web
did not read all the provided material in detail since I already use fc.
Nevertheless, I think it's a good sign that some companies provide own tutorials and I think the examples shown e.g. at the I.materialise (https://i.materialise.com/3d-design-tools/freecad) can be encouraging for new users to start learning how to use FC.
Re: FreeCAD on the web
It's a French company as far as I know. I didn't get any reply yet, but I'll chase them again if they don't fix it (hey, I'm a customer!! )
