I have no idea if it's available. I would guess not.

I doubt it since those structures are still unexplored AKA risk being graverobbed

From the linked article:
"The complete LiDAR data were submitted to the IDAEH. IDEAH is currently establishing a guideline for the dissemination of LiDAR data on Guatemala to balance the public availability of scientific data and the need to protect archaeological sites from looting. The availability of our LiDAR data will need to follow this guideline. Researchers interested in our LiDAR data should contact the IDAEH: demopre.secre@gmail.com; http://mcd.gob.gt/tag/idaeh/."

Re: Civil Engineering Design functions
Looks fantastic!
I'm going to do a quick field check on the area and get some video / pics. The noise you noted at the stream crossing is just that, I'm sure, but I don't know what caused it, so I want to do a quick field check, if only for that.
On the issue of generating surfaces, there is an easy way to constrain it somewhat. Specifically, we can create a "corridor" that parallels the horizontal alignment and is offset several feet on either side. It should be simple to do in Sketcher. Basically, roads in the US have a 40' -60' right-of-way from the centerline of the road. Knowing this in advance, we can know that points which exceed that limit do not need the surface computed.
Anyway, I've got a couple other things in mind that I'm working through. I'll post something later... in the other thread.

Re: Civil Engineering Design functions
Dear Joel_Graff: (I wrote back in 2017)
That all said regarding my present work, I have extensive information on a, now unavailable software package for Civil Engineers and Surveyor's. It was on the market from about 1980 - 2000 when Professor Charles L. Miller, of MIT passed away. The package was picked up by McDonald-Douglas Corporation who migrated the software from it's Civil Surveying origins.
I would be more then happy to provide the information that I have or know the where abouts of. The package was called CLM Systems CEALs COGO.

You Relied to above with:
I don't really know what to say about this. Honestly, if the software and it's source code could be released under an open source / free software license, it might be of great benefit. Otherwise, I don't know that it will be of much use to us, here.
I am now studying about Domain Specific Languages(DSL), which is very interesting when approaching the above referenced Programming Language Civil Engineering Automated Library(CEAL) Coordinate Geometry(COGO). My DSL is called M++ for MIT where it first appeared in the 1950's, and Charles L. Miller that spear headed the effort at MIT. This program from the 1950's is still evolving, as it should be, at the Colorado Department of Transportation, to the best of my knowledge, thought its main line of development is now with, of cause, with the Military-Industrial Complex.
Sorry for being so winding, I will keep you abreast of M++ development. I hope to have a diverse developers with M++.
Thanks much for your time with this. Any replies are appreciated.

Re: Civil Engineering Design functions
Unfortunately, even with the information you've provided, I can really find no online information that gives me a good picture of this technology or how it might apply to our efforts. Most of the research you reference dates back over 50 years and is being largely abandoned in 3D modeling in transportation. COGO may be valuable in surveying, but it is of little use in 3D modeling and design.Joecoc1916 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 08, 2018 11:47 pm orry for being so winding, I will keep you abreast of M++ development. I can find no code repository for CEAL to evaluate, so again, unless it's publicly available somewhere and released under a free or open source software license that is compatible with FreeCAD's, I doubt it will be of any use to us.

Joel:
Thanks for the rapid reply. As I said, or should of, I'll keep you abreast of M++ developments. That DSL, which I will be developing, will be done with the xtext, xtend DSL tools, which uses the Eclipse IDE with IntelJ Idea as its editor. All of which I would put in a powerful field of Open Source development projects.
I have been on this myself since the early 1980's, working with CEAL,s COGO developers at that point for production project in Earthwork, Civil Engineering and Surveying. Just now finding the time and mindset to move on these areas.
Be looking for M++ links in the future. Got to Believe. )
