This has come up enough. Let's try this? https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/releases/tag/0.17

Also there is an issue on the tracker to post the Checksum for the files. Anyone have a good suggestion how to post this info? If they both are on GitHub, what keeps the bad guys from hacking the posted checksum at the same time they hack the installer?

If a hacker was able to edit the release page html, having a tampered checksum would be the least of the worries I think. The checksum provides assurance that the file is the original in normal situations.

So in the markdown section, or a dummy text file with the checksum as the filename in the assets section? I've seen other projects have a link to the checksum in brackets with the downlosd, don't know if this is possible on github?

I was thinking in the markdown when I said that, but really having it in a file would be better for automation.

Will do. Can you PM me the .dmg SHA256?

Not totally satisfying, but on Firefox I'm prompted to open or download?
Automating this for the daily builds is a great idea.

Do we have an official announcement? If not I would refere to this post of Yorik: https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 60#p226018
