Help to model complex pocket

Post by DLG »

Hello everyone :) ,

I have been using FreeCad since little less than two months, and I'm coming to you with a quick question, I want to create a pocket inside a solide, but I don't know how to.

The pocket itself is rather complex, I could describe it at an elliptical cone, which would have its end flattened.

It starts with a circle with a diameter of 8 mm and ends up with a large slot, with a height of 5 mm and a width of 35 mm,

but the pocket itself is tilted.

As you can see on the attached figures, I have designed the two shapes on the two faces of the solid so that you can better see what I want to achieve.

Basically, I'd like FreeCad to create the pocket using those two shapes as starting and end shapes, but I don't know how to do this, or even if that's possible.

Any ideas on how to achieve this ?

Thank you very much !

Hi DLG, welcome to the forum.
If you have modeled your cube in PartDesign workbench you create a subtractive loft.
If you have modeled in Part workbench you create a loft and make a boolean cut.

In both cases it works best if you change the circle to consist of several segments matching the segments of the slot.

Hi, this model can also be made in the Part design workbench using the subtractive loft function
