Re: FreeCAD Website Design

After looking at the github example again, I might suggset a couple small changes:

1. Ensure that the top logo portion fills the screen entirely (I can see the graphic for the next section show up at the bottom a bit)
2. Clip out the FreeCAD UI in the images, just showing the models themselves - if only because it looks cleaner. Maybe use a shadow or contrasting border to offset it from the background
3. Scale the images a bit smaller - the text is kinda pushed to the side and looks cramped.
4. Increase the size of the text font.

Thank you all for the feedback.

The only bit left worth mentioning is that for the text under "AND MANY MORE GREAT FEATURES", it would be nice if you included stuff about the experimental CFD, BIM, and Geodata workbenches and how FreeCAD also has potential to be a real Swiss Army knife of a general-purpose engineering toolkit. However, the fact that the copy is all pretty succinct is one thing I like about it, so pick out of my suggestions whatever changes you may.
I have modified the features section to include experimental CFD, BIM, and Geodata workbenches. Let me know if it is alright now.

I have now added the credits in the footer.

Its possible that display resolution is the cause of this. I have modified the code to allow scaling of the text and the top logo section. Let me know if it's fine now. I would be great if you can also mention your monitor resolution, on my laptop display I do not encounter this issue.

The problem is that some screenshots are not high resolution and have different aspect ratio and cropping it further reduces the quality. I have cropped the images, so let me know if it looks fine. Some lower resolution screenshots have been replaced.

Also it would be great if someone can test the website on different resolutions, mobile or desktop, to spot layout misalignment or other problems.

Looks very good.

2 Thoughts:

1: The design is quite a bit away from WIKI and Forum.. so the jumping when clicked is a bit a shocking effect..maybe wiki and forum need some tuneup later..

2: I would not jump into Forum Showcase, but add another static page with screenshots and probably link them to their posts...

just thoughts...

I looked at it again. On a widescreen 1080p monitor, it looks really good. Just cleaning up the images really gives it a much cleaner aesthetic!

Very good points indeed, it made me go back and compare both pages, and I was wondering,
Something I tend to like about the current page is that everything fits in one page, so you can't miss something out,
On the current design you have to scroll down, before anything is revealed, so if you are just a tad bit a little lazy you wont see what you are looking for it if is hidden way down below.
So it's a bit of a mixed feeling for me there, hard to chose, so I might let others throw in a few thoughts on the matter as well.

If you want images you need the scroll. Or you can go for transitions...
