strange model view/splash screen messages
Hi
Windows 10, Freecad 0.17 build 13528
2 issues:
1. splash screen lists one item as not found, to quick to see what it is but suspect program files/freecad/mod/measure?? - is there a log file anywhere?
2. All model views appear as combination of "as is" and "wireframe" (see attachment)
Graphics card update recently maybe problem (radeon 18.8.1 software for radeon R9 200 series card)
Any one have any ideas please
Many thanks
John

Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
Welcome to the forum,
one possible answer is that the transparency is not 0, see in the tree view, in this case it is 50

Hi
Many thanks for replying
All transparencies set to 0
I will cut out some further screenshots to show why I think this a problem

Hello jltott,
Welcome to the forum.
As for a log file, you need to explicitly set a command when launching FreeCAD. I'm not sure but I think you have to start FreeCAD from the command line.

Make the report view visible by going to View --> Panels --> Report view. It will display this message and you'll be able to copy-paste it here.

Yes, this is most probably the issue, you are the 3rd person in the past few weeks with an AMD card this happens to after a graphics driver update. Let me try to locate the previous topic.
Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
try and make sense of this if possible

Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
Do you know the command line instruction and flags to set report?
Many thanks, much appreciated

Finally found the topic by scanning through the forum index page by page, as the search engine was useless It was at the bottom of the 3rd page, and last active a mere 7 days ago. This forum is quite active
Unable to hide hidden geometry
In the next to last reply in page 2, crazyraph said he downgraded the Radeon driver to the stable version 18.5.1 and it fixed it.
Still, it's odd that Blender (another 3D app that relies on Open GL) has no issue with the updated August driver.

If it's not in the report view, I wouldn't worry too much about it, still, I wonder if it might give us clues on the graphics issue.
There's a wiki page about it, see Start up and Configuration. I'm afraid I don't know how to apply this info, as I don't have Windows at home.
Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
I think you don't have to start from the commandline, you can set the additional parameters in the properties of the startup icon.

Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
Might be worth a try, from what I can understand you'd just have to add a trailing space and -l (that's a lowercase L) at the end of the exec path. FreeCAD.log will be saved in the same folder as the config files (in %APPDATA%\FreeCAD).
Re: strange model view/splash screen messages
That method works for me. No command line needed.
