wafi wrote: Sat Aug 18, 2018 7:55 pm Hi,

just played arround and re- installed, but without big sucsess only the error message is changing.

Dependencie checker states:
Checking dependencies...
No missing dependencies detected

Now, when I try to mesh something:

Starting meshing ...

Part to mesh: Name --> BooleanFragments, Label --> BooleanFragments, ShapeType --> Compound
CharacteristicLengthMax: 115.2
ElementDimension: 3D
No mesh regions.
Populating mesh dictionaries in folder /tmp/meshCase
Successfully wrote meshCase to folder /tmp/meshCase
cfMesh and snappyHexMesh do not accept boolean fragments.Executing: bash -c cd "/tmp/meshCase" && ./Allmesh
Finish Editing BooleanFragments_Mesh

.... unfortunately without mesh. If I try to mesh with gmsh
it`s stated that opencascade is necessary to run gmsh
Perhaps have a look at Tutorial 3 at https://opensimsa.github.io/training.html for meshing with cfMesh. I'm not sure if it will work with a Boolean Fragments object (it is needed for porous baffles / regions with gmsh, but they are not supported with cfMesh). If it doesn't work, could you share your file here?
Please provide all the information requested in this post before reporting problems with CfdOF.

Moin Thomas

does not matter ... unfortunately, for bolean fragments the output is':
0.2: Running gmsh ...
0.3: Error : Gmsh requires OpenCASCADE to import shape
0.7: Meshing exited with error

'Opencascade is available ....
I do not know what happened. With Ubuntu 16.04 everything was fine and working, but it seems that the problem is now Ubuntu 18.04 and it seems that the programs incl. Freecad etc are not really easy to integrate into this new Ubuntu.

Moin wafi :) ,
My system: Win10, on laptop with 4 GB RAM, quadcore cpu.
I have no problem to install the cfd-wb/cfmesh via edit/preferences/cfd.

About Ubuntu: I never used it.
All static and structural engineering software runs on windows.
Is that right?

normally Linux is not a problem at all, as stated, everything was fine with Ubuntu 16.04, but changes to Ubuntu 18.04 created the problem. I think it`s same when you change i.e. from Windows 7 to windows 10, the chance that all programs would run as before, will be near zero ...

dear all,
just want to report latest status. After all attempts to fix the problem and some crashes with other programs, I completely clean out the computer and installed a brand new Ubuntu 18.041 ... and of cause the rest of the programs ... and now it works and also no crashes in other programs. It seems that the upgrade from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04 created some problems which does not appear if installing Ubuntu 18.04 on a clean computer.

best regards
Peter
