Fillet Issues - Curved Face

Post by bricechart »

I'm having trouble creating a fillet on a somewhat simple object. I'm wanting to round the edges of all the sides of the part. When I try applying the fillet on the side (PartDesign -> Fillet), I get gaps where the fillet was supposed to be created. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?

The side I'm having issues with the fillet, pre-fillet.

The arc in Sketch not being tangent to the adjacent line segments is cause of your Fillet problem, but other than making the arc tangent I don't have a fix. Maybe someone else will come up with something...

there is a mistake in your sketch you can use "validate sketch" in part design menu

I did not see any "mistake" in the sketch other than the lack of tangency.

I think bejant is exactly correct. The PD fillet behavior is known to be a bit weak, and this is one of the situations it cannot handle.

So having the curve tangent is required for the fillet option to work? I adjusted the angle and the fillet now works, but I just trying to know what my options are. Thanks for everyone's help.

The Fillet often (usually?) fails in those non-tangent situations, so I'll answer "yes" - and no exceptions come to mind.
