So you can try upgrading or downgrading the graphics card driver.

Tools -> Save image... doesn't work anymore for me with qt5/py3, neither thumbnail generation (which I think uses the same mechanism):
<unknown exception traceback><class 'RuntimeError'>: Cannot save null image.
Can anyone else using qt5/py3 check?

Seems to be the known issue from above. I'm not sure if this started here when switching to 0.17 or switching from qt4 to qt5, I think it was the latter. Since then I use the Screenshot utility.

hmm not sure it has to do with graphics drivers in my case... It does the same on both the nvidia and intel drivers.
But if it works for @TheMarkster with py3/qt5 then it's probably not the culprit either. Will investigate more..
