Here is the page that controls the sidebar: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Sidebar

Even if you cannot edit it, you should be able to view its source. As you'll see, there is no description there. Maybe external pages/templates are called, I'm not sure.

Possibly relevant: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#int

Found more.

Have no idea what this one is used for: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/MediaWi ... r-messages

vocx wrote: Mon Oct 29, 2018 7:29 pm I believe the sidebar uses templates inside of it, like {{int:sidebar-user-hub-target}} I don't know where these templates are defined. It's kind of tricky.
As I linked above, "int:" seems to be a call for translation. sidebar-user-hub-target is the name of the page under the Mediawiki: namespace. So for each item in the sidebar corresponds a page with a single line of text.

https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/MediaWi ... hub-target

For example, the page for the "Working with meshes" link: https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/MediaWi ... ar-mesh-wb

I think we're getting there.

@renato: so you can't edit pages under the "Mediawiki:" namespace?

It seems only administrators are able to do that.

This is what it says on the wiki when you view the source as an Editor.
You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:

This page provides interface text for the software on this wiki, and is protected to prevent abuse. To add or change translations for all wikis, please use translatewiki.net, the MediaWiki localisation project.

I can, now I have found a way to access, but I have not yet understood well how it works. I do not want to make disasters.
As soon as I have a little time, I'll do some tests ..

I looked for a compromise to allow navigation and not weigh down the page.
I created Template Docnav1, does not take up much space, but allows you to enter all the links you want. For now it is just an example that you can see in https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Online_ ... artpage/it

docnav1a.png (4.03 KiB) Viewed 1135 times
docnav1b.png
docnav1b.png (6.02 KiB) Viewed 1135 times

If you like this idea, you need to improve its appearance

I personally don't like the links to "previous" and "next". This only makes sense if you are reading a manual that needs to be read in sequence. But in the wiki this is fragile, as pages may be updated and everything could end up in disarray. It's okay if you intend to use it in the "manual" portion of the wiki that eventually gets transformed into a PDF document, but I don't think it makes sense for every wiki page.

That's why I prefer this style more https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Template:Userdocnavi because you can just jump to a different workbench.

Edit: added a new template https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/Template:Userdocnavi2, which is the same, just prettier.
