Coin3D Transition in Debian; Pivy 0.6.4 finally uploaded

Post by kkremitzki »

Hi all,

The still-unreleased current upstream of Coin3D is entering the Debian archives and a transition is underway:
https://tracker.debian.org/news/1004837 ... erimental/

Note the renaming of libcoin80-dev to libcoin-dev. soqt is also getting updated:
https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/soqt_ ... ~exp1.html

Which has finally enabled Pivy 0.6.4 with Python 3 support to make it into the NEW queue for experimental:
https://ftp-master.debian.org/new/pivy_ ... ~exp1.html

So we are looking good for a simultaneous Python 2 & 3 release of 0.18 in time for Debian 10 and Ubuntu 19.04.

Hi,

Great! I see in the changes that the package will now use the system's expat library, which will fix this issue.
Changes:
coin3 (4.0.0~CMake~6f54f1602475+ds1-1~exp1) experimental; urgency=medium
.
(...)
* Use of system expat library. Added as build dependency. (Closes: #884947)

Yep, that's finally been taken care of for real--which also means we can backport that fix to the PPAs, so long as we do a bit of bug testing of the new FreeCAD once it's compiled against them.
