Obviously NO feature was yet made available in FreeCAD 0.19, as the development cycle hasn't started yet. Therefore if it won't be there in a years time, when we do a release, it still can get removed in a few seconds. ATM it's more important to keep track of what is going on. Compared to doing nothing and rather discuss things for a few months. An image and a short description. This is what we are currently after. And we can have more in depth discussion after, when we will have something to discuss about.
I'm fine with doing it either way, personally.

It's really a question of posting features in the release notes that never end up getting merged vs trying to track them in this thread and on Mantis / git over the course of the release cycle. I don't have a system in place or presume to know what's right, and maybe it doesn't really matter that much.
I suspect features that reach the stage of the balloon command usually end up getting merged without too much difficulty, anyway.

Culling the release notes before the next release is probably going to be more easily managed - it's easier to get rid of notes than have to hunt for notes to add (assuming we're not inundated with features that never even get PR's). That said, watching a post here about a promising unmerged feature with a link to the discussion (as you've been doing) is probably equally manageable. I really don't have a strong opinion either way.

If somebody makes an announcement of working on something, somebody else makes a nice image of it, somebody else links it here in this thread and somebody else will manage and add all that to the release notes. In my book that heavily outweighs any other ideas and opinions shared at this moment. ;)

P.S. If that still represents a problem to some just add a WIP "tag" to such features and lets move on. Lets build awesome FreeCAD 0.19 release notes and lets not try to make them empty! :)

Hi, love this initiative:-)

I see that http://libregraphicsworld.org has gotten back up with weekly updates after being a bit irregular. Might it be a good idea to sync updates as a weekly recap, that news sites like this can reference and follow?

That sounds fine to me. If we get into trouble with that, we can enforce more stringent controls later.

Thanks! That's not a bad idea. But culling the activities for the week (feature requests / bug squashes) seems a bit daunting to me ATM. I'm willing to explore it though if we can come up with something that I can keep up with. :)

I wouldn't mind writing up a post or something that can be picked up by LibreGraphics or others (I see that they covered @kkremitzki's latest blog update), but that seems like we need to start a FreeCAD blog. Though, much of it could be cross-posted content from Kurt and Yorik. :)

We can also work to automate the process somewhat with pywikibot. Similar issue opened at freecad-macros
https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD-macros/issues/28
We could push commits to the wiki page and then on a weekly basis edit said list to filter only worthy changes
Alone you go faster. Together we go farther

That sounds good. I don't know how fancy the bot can get, but a little categorizing would be nice. :) The other side of that is Mantis...

Anyway, I really don't know what's going to be most useful, but maybe push it to a separate wiki page that gets regenerated each time? I can just copy/paste from there, probably.

I Agree, feature requests / bug's are probably to wide a scope and probably a bit too low level for external news outlets.
