There are 20 thousand seven hundred and twenty eight here.....
You forget that we migrated the whole user database when we parted ways with Sourceforge; back then, the user database was global to the whole of Sourceforge. There may be 8-10,000 user accounts in there that go back to the SF era, users who most probably never posted or visited the forum. A whole lot of banned spammers in there I'd wager.

spreading the word about FreeCAD does not constitute a dilution of effort or knowledge.
Spreading the word
is a dilution of efforts, if it's all the same contributors who are active here who have to do it. I created a Mastodon account on the Fosstodon instance with the goal of "spreading the word", but I barely post anymore. I just don't have the time.
How about the blog posts that were supposed to be a regular feature?

and as a late addition.. look at the reddit FreeCAD Area.. tons of links into here...
But links, barely any original content. And the activity is not big either. It was the same thing with the Google+ FreeCAD community: it had 3,500 subscribers and not 0.01% were active. Barely 3-4 posts a month.
