Mirror with changes

Post by gsandy »

I have a cover (see attached) that has "Stb" embossed on the inside face. I wish to mirror the cover and then change the text to "Port". I have tried but if I change the text on the mirrored copy the text on the original changes (which I don't want). I have tried copying and pasting and then changing the text on the copied object but the original still changes?

No access to pc now but...
Leave the text as last feature. Use the body without text as base feature for another body where you add first text. Create part clone from first body, Change scale to mirror it. Use that as base feature for third body where you add the second text.

That's the very purpose of the parametric(!) mirror. If you don't need parametric dependency you can create a simple copy of the mirror and then remove the mirror and change the text.

I made a mirror, copied the mirror (independent copy), changed the text on the copy and all 3 models reflected the one change?

Thanks Chris. Found the Simple copy in the Part WB. I made the simple copy, mirrored that and then made the text change on the original.

Hi
I understood that you wanted STB on one side and Port on the other or I'm wrong

Hi Meme, not quite. There are 2 covers (one is a mirror of the other, even though they both look the same), one cover marked "Stb" on the inside and the other cover is marked "Port".
