Freecad Assembly3 Specialist Wanted

Postby freecad-heini-1 » Fri Jun 28, 2019 2:59 pm

Hello my dear forum colleagues,

I created a nice workflow with the aligner from the manipulator workbench.
Unfortunately the aligner does not offer a link to the installation references.

Therefore I'm looking for someone who knows the assembly 3 workbench well and can show and explain a solution using asm 3.

Please include a video tutorial as I would like to learn how to do it.

Many thanks for the help and many greetings

Wilfried

Try to play a bit with the positions of the different local coordinate systems in this example and see if it makes any use for you. In general this does not behave as a typical assembly but more like a multi body part.

Update: cut02 is a simplified version that allows you to use the transform gizmo on the red (cutting) cone.

An imported solid (from a step file for example) does not have the attachment map mode property like a cube created in the Part WB. How hard would it be to add this also for such solids (in this example from Wilfried it is the "GTK_org" solid) ?

IMHO the question/explanation is too long to be specific. I'm sorry that I didn't follow the whole. If this is a simple task question (like the tasks in https://github.com/ceremcem/freecad-notes#by-task-asm3) please try to shorten that. If this is a kind of paid job, you are free to make it long, however, it would be nice to clarify that.

Also, both DatumPlane and Local_CS have the option in the attachment map mode for the "Map Path Parameter" when they are placed on an edge, DatumPoint seems to be missing this option, can it be added?

I am testing your files. I need to fix some bugs in order for your file to work. I'll make a video soon.
Try Assembly3 (latest version 0.10.2) along with my custom build of FreeCAD at here.

The attachment stuff was implemented by DeepSOIC and thus it would be best to ask him.
