in that case i think a broken chain is better.

That would have been my alternative .

But much more pixels to display it in a decent manner.

Re: Marking PartDesign not properly attached datums
can the tree view maybe have another column for status icons, much like DAGView has?

Re: Marking PartDesign not properly attached datums
update: such an icon can be a serious shortcutter. For example:
* double-click opens attachment editor
* right-click opens context menu with quick actions related to attachment, such as "Edit attachment", "Enable", "Disable", "Detach", "Highlight support objects"

Re: Marking PartDesign not properly attached datums
Existing icon seems quite clear to be an electrical plug and it seems fine to me... Catia has something similar (red lightning, or something like it) to show such objects
But would it be equally useful for all the different FC users (architecture, fem, civil, mechanical,...)? IMO it would maybe be a bit over-engineered.

Re: Marking PartDesign not properly attached datums
I think yes. Moreover, if object is not attachable, no icon is displayed.
The overlay real-estate is getting crowded. Tip, touched, error, latent error, attachment... also, realthunder has some overlays... It's all going to leave no space for the actual icon to shine through. Maybe, also make it possible to turn off completely. It may also be difficult to understand, what overlay symbol means what.
I would prefer these extra icon columns to be on the right-hand side, not like in DAG View. To keep the tree cleaner.
Re: Marking PartDesign not properly attached datums
This is what SolidWorks implemented. Actually this is an extra "flap panel" on the right of the tree that you can show/hide.
I can't find a picture on the web. If one has SolidWorks installed, maybe he/she can make a screenshot.
EDIT : as a first step of improvement, is the icon I proposed some posts before OK as a replacement, or any modification needed ?
