Boolean Intersection

Post by gsandy »

If I preform a Boolean intersection with Extrude001 and Extrude002 (see attached) the result disappears from view! Can anyone tell me why?
Thanks Sandy.

Coplanar faces are not recommended for boolean operations, they frequently fail. Raise one of your objects a tiny little bit and it will succeed.

You're welcome. Although this issue is well known, there is not much that the FreeCAD developers can do about it. It comes directly from the geometric kernel. Users of proffesional multithousand $$ programs have reported that even those programs can show such behaviour, albeit less often.

I certainly have no complaint about Freecad and are very grateful that it is available, free, to non-professionals like me. Cheers Sandy.

OK, yes it is rather loud! Never thought about it when I submitted the question.

Notice that you can always change that by editing the OP's title field. ;)
