Placing an image on a plane of a part is easy using the image WB. Rotating, placing, scaling; it all works fine.
I am creating a 3D housing of an industrial PC and I like to project an image on the front and back of the housing. The images are in fact all possible connections (quite a lot), so I do not have to draw all of them in 3D. Up to this point, everything is going well.
But then... When I try to place this PC in an assembly the images disappear.
In the Part WB using 'Make compound' or 'Make a union of several shapes' create the same issue.
Of course it is possible to place the images in the final assembly, but that is not the solution I would like obviously...
Anyone who knows another workaround maybe?

Re: Image on part-disappear in assembly
If I were you, I'd work with a vector image of the connector and convert it to a Part object so it can be integrated in the model.
If you don't have one, you can get a rough one by vectorizing your bitmap image with eg. Inkscape.

Re: Image on part-disappear in assembly
Your version is utterly outdated. You should consider upgrading to 0.18 or even 0.19.

Sorry I cannot help you here, I just thought if you have to upgrade anyway you could just try it.
To get better information about your original question you should tell other helpers what kind of assembly you use.

Re: Image on part-disappear in assembly
I found this thread asking the question I am having right now.
Have you got the problem solved or not?
I am using the 0.19 version and the image still lost in assembly.
Can you help me out here?
Thanks

Re: Image on part-disappear in assembly
Interesting Trying to migrate the file I uploaded in 2019, using V0.19.24267 but it fails (migrating fails quite a lot with my older designs, unfortunately).
Using A2Plus V0.4.54b I tried to import an assembly with images inside. Still the same effect, so from my pov: not solved.
Also I found out that importing not-grey-colored parts inside an assembly loose their colors and become grey again. No solution.
Maybe others who can help?

Re: Image on part-disappear in assembly
AFAIK this is due to how a2+ works, it only imports the shape of the file, the rest is left behind. This is because it was written at a time when links weren't implemented yet.
