This is how it currently looks on my side:

P.S. I guess there is still some room left, for improvements.

I noticed something familiar in OCCT 7.4 release notes.
The offset between the axis and the cube is really nice, in FreeCAD it's sometimes hard to see the axis as they don't have this offset.

+1 maybe using bold text would improve readability?

There is a problem with the rendering of the navigation cube on macOS. I have attached a screenshot. If you look closely, you can see that the desktop shows behind the nav cube (there is a "PDF printer" icon on the desktop underneath the FreeCAD window at that screen location). It appears that the transparency extends beyond the canvas all the way to the desktop.

I too have a similar problem. The document window is transparent. The desktop behind FreeCAD is fully visible.

I can also get the desktop to show through an object on the canvas as well by hovering over an element in the model tree. In the screen shot below, if I mouse over the object in the document window, you cannot see the background. If you hover over the element in the model tree, the desktop shows through as can be seen in the screen shot.

And if the navigation cube is turned off in the preferences, the issue still persists?

P.S. Highly likely this is GPU drivers related.

That doesn't help me. If you go under:

Edit -> Preferences ... -> Display -> and uncheck the Show navigation cube checkbox.

Does the issue with the transparency still exists? If yes, that is likely not related to navigation cube, but to some other setting or to GPU drivers.

If I turn off the navigation cube in preferences, I can still see through the canvas to the desktop when I mouse over an element in the model view.
