The email situation should be fixed and reverted to the old sender address. Please chime in if you see any further issues with this.

New subject!

I am just about ready to do the wiki migration. There's a staging server now available at https://wiki.freecadweb.org. This is running a backup from December or so. It should be fully functional; please give it a poke and see if anything's broken before we go live. If everything seems OK in the next few days I will do a change over. This will involve putting the wiki into read-only mode for potentially up to 12 hours; the staging database import took 10 hours, but I may be able to speed that up.

Does this mean that that wiki has outdated information? I see the history and it shows very recent changes, February 12th or so. There are some missing images, is that normal? https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Assembly

Does this also mean that whatever changes we do to that wiki will be overwritten once you do the migration?

Oops, that's right, I forgot I actually pulled in a newer backup, I was originally working with one from December. The images, though, are definitely the old ones, even though the database has newer content. So that may explain some of those missing images, if they were modified recently.

Also, yes, any changes will be wiped out.

Okay, so to be clear, test but don't make big edits, because they will be erased, https://wiki.freecadweb.org/

This you can edit normally, https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/

After the merge, https://wiki.freecadweb.org/ will be official, and https://www.freecadweb.org/wiki/ will just be a redirection.

I'm noticing an interesting phenomena with the migrated wiki
When I make a change to the templates (by moving them out of the translation tags per https://forum.freecadweb.org/viewtopic. ... 10#p369418) the change isn't auto-permeating the translation pages (like it does on the current wiki). In other words,
as an example, lets take

https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Category:Spreadsheet

We currently see that it essentially has 2 pages (Expressions and Spreadsheet Workbench and listed in it) but one of the pages is duplicated because it is showing the translation of said page i.e.
Spreadsheet Workbench/cs
Spreadsheet Workbench/en
Spreadsheet Workbench/es
Spreadsheet Workbench/fr
Spreadsheet Workbench/hr
Spreadsheet Workbench/id
Spreadsheet Workbench/pt
Spreadsheet Workbench/pt-br
Spreadsheet Workbench/ro
Spreadsheet Workbench/ru
Spreadsheet Workbench/sv
Spreadsheet Workbench/tr
Spreadsheet Workbench/zh
Spreadsheet Workbench/zh-tw

Now I went in to the original page Spreadsheet Workbench and moved the templates out of translation tags and appended {{#translation:}} to them. Then I saved the page and marked it for translation. In the 'old/current' wiki, when I view the https://wiki.freecadweb.org/Category:Spreadsheet the translation pages should start disappearing one by one (i guess the changes in the mediawiki DB are permeating in a sequence and don't all happen at once). But in the 'newer/test' wiki the pages don't disappear until I actually load the translation page in another browser window. Then it seems the changes are implemented.

Note: as more people test this above example, it will become obsolete. But you can test it yourself. Just take a look at the edit that I made to make this happen: https://wiki.freecadweb.org/index.php?t ... did=608941
I moved the category/templates outside of the translation tags and appended that 'magic word' to it.
Alone you go faster. Together we go farther

Thanks for testing and reporting! This is probably an issue with https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Job_queue so I will try to investigate and fix this weekend so that I can finish the move.

@kkremitzky, with the wiki migration, is there any chance to include the Mediawiki extension 'MsUpload'?

We use it in our intranet wiki and I find it eases the pain to make illustrated contributions very much by allowing to add images by drag & drop. Especially for little images (for icons and buttons), but also for tutorial steps the image setup is often more time consuming than the text itself.
The danger is, of course, that it may be abused by careless users to include images that are not properly resized and scaled down or not taking time to copy already uploaded images from other pages (e.g. for icons).

Maybe it's not the right place to ask here but are there some known issues with the forum? I have massive trouble since yesterday morning and the problems are that it's extremely slow (it takes half a minute to load a page) and sometimes it even completely fails and telling me that the site is unreachable.

Anyone else having issues?
