Apparent intersections on a sketch

Post by niceandeasy »

Is there a constraint so that the end of the line intersects the apparent edge ?
Thank you

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not exactly sure what you need. Are you familiar with construction lines and linking external geometry functions?

Thank you for the reply, please see the image in the link of my post
Following the second link you provided I think I need to use the sketch external geometry tool.
Solved, thanks again !
Cheers

OK, I got it now. I don't think FreeCAD has that function, but I do not know many things. You might have to use construction line to simulate it unless someone with more knowledge steps in.

With the external geometry (X shortcut) you suggested and clicking on the edges on the base of the part I was able to create horizontal reference lines to which I could apply restrictions and dimensions

It's curious that the image insertion does not seems to be working so I am posting the direct link to the image

Thanks again

Did you upload the image as an attachment to the post? It should work

I may add, that it is possible to use the edges as external geometry, but it is not recommended. You should rather use references to sketches to minimize the problems caused by the topological naming problem.
