Yes.
Now, if we can name dimensions it follows that the dimensions and their names are stored together somewhere - I expect in a spreadsheet.
Some questions from that:
1. Can I access that spreadsheet?
2. Can I modify the model by changing dimensions in the spreadsheet?
You have (at least) 3 possibilities to use common values
1) give a name to a dimension and use it in the form SketchXXX.Constraints.GivenName
2) use DynamicData workbench from the AddonManager
3) use a spreadsheet.
Back trying to follow your demo again Bance. It is a one small step at a time process.
You start with both Sketch and Sketch 004 visible in the drawing area and they stay there no matter what you do.

I can have both visible as long as Sketch is active, but if I activate Sketch 004 then Sketch disappears. That means that when I move to the next step I cannot select a vertices on Sketch - they are not visible to select.
How to keep them both visible?

While you are in Sketcher you can switch to the model tree and make the other sketch visible. This doesn't work while the external tool is active.
In Preferences->Sketcher you can change the behaviour concerning visibility. You may have to apply it to existing sketches before it works.

What is the 'external tool'?

I think you mean Edit --> Preferences --> Sketcher --> Display?
What do I change? I have played around with the checkboxes - uncheck one and click Apply to existing sketches; no change; change back; no change' try another; ... No change!

Why are you making the sketches active?
Terminology!
I call a sketch Active when I have clicked on it; it's highlighted (has a grey background); and its details become visible in the Combo View column.
I don't know what you call it.
In this case I make Sketch active so I can see it.

When in PD WB just select the sketch (LMB click once), Properties are then available in the data tab. There is no need to be in sketcher.
This is a side-track again!
What I need to know Bance is how you have both Sketch and Sketch 004 visible all the time so you can select vertices from Sketch while positioning Sketch 004. As my images show, I can't do that.
