Household appliances make good examples for learning and practicing FreeCAD parametric modeling. They are readily available and can be measured to ensure that model proportions are correct. This project was chosen because of the complexity of the injection molded handle and the three dimensional spout formed on the rim of the carafe.
The handle was modeled as a Part Design/Pad with a pocket for the handle opening which was then hollowed by using the Part/Thickness tool. A few other pad features and pockets were added to complete the hinge features.
To keep the sketches simple, the body of the carafe itself was modeled using Part Design pads and pockets rather than a revolution. The spout and rim were formed with a Part/Loft from three axial cross-sections. The thickness tool did not seem to like the loft so a smaller spout and rim were lofted and then Part/Cut from the larger loft. The Cut loft was then joined to the body with a Part/Fusion.
The lid was modeled with Part Design/Revolution with pads and pockets added to complete the hinge features. The band was modeled with a simple Part/Sweep and Part Design/Fillets.
The FreeCAD file size is 5.8 Mb which takes about one minute to open with the following configuration:
