Unofficial Window X64 and X32 Development Snapshots

Post by sgrogan »

I've uploaded a development snapshot of FreeCAD built today here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/rj0idt7yj89d ... RdHca?dl=0

I've run it through Norton and Windows Security Essentials, but as with any downloaded software USE CAUTION.

The readme explains what to do.

It should run from a USB as well. Let me know how it works. Maybe I can do this on a regular basis.

Works fine for me. Thanks, sgrogan, I'm sure all the windows users that don't compile themselves will be happy to have new build.

It's like a present for Windows users.

I have been trying to learn freecad but became frustrated that the windows version was so far behind that I stopped and was waiting for an update.
I really hope updates like this can be done at least once a month.
Thanks
George

I nearly missed this Post ...

THANKS SGROGAN FOR YOUR EFFORTS!

Since 014.3700 dates from 13-07-2014 and my request for at least a development snapshot in
Oktober ended up with nothing being done I feared that we would have to wait until July 2015
for the next official release (development or not ...)

Will try to find some time this week to do testing and report back.

Have a nice week ...

I think the time is right to have latest built for windows platforms too.

I have started to build binaries on win32.
I have added some workbenches which are essential for me
still not all works, but the core functionality of freecad runs.

I will do regular updates too - for win 32 (there are still a lot of people who use small computers)

this is the place of my builts: http://freecadbuch.de/doku.php?id=story:winfreecad
if you have problems with this built, please contact me first - my packing process may not be perfect

Hello microelly,

My original plan was to do X64 and X32 builds but I saw you were working on the x32 with added workbenches. So I also am planning on adding the plugin workbenches to X64. If you could share your progress I would appreciate it. I installed scipy tonight put I don't have it in the right place yet for a portable build.

At sometime I need to add a license file and I believe pyqt4 is a potential problem if I want to mimmick FreeCAD's LPGL2 so I need to think what to do about this.

I will add X32 to the Post topic and we can share this topic. If you prefer your own, let me know and I will switch it back to just X64.

Hey guys,

I have gotten permission from wmayer to manage the official development builds. If it is alright with you, sgrogan, I was going to upload your build to SF. I'm currently investigating ways of automatically doing development builds, kind of like the Ubuntu daily ppa. Idealy, I would like to setup Buildbot on freecadweb.org, but I'm not sure if the freecadweb.org server could handle the large transfers.
