Sheet Metal Workbench

Post by shaise »

Hello Everyone!

As a very active user of FreeCAD (Many thanks to all of the developpers) I often use it to design small sheet metal parts. As it is now quite cumbersome to make such parts I decided to add a simple Shet Metal workbench. It is not such a big deal but it make my sheet metal design go much much faster. I have posted the Module and some help how to use it in my projects website: http://theseger.com/projects/2015/06/sh ... r-freecad/
Hope this helps others!

Hello.

Nice work! Looks very good and thanks for sharing.

If you don't mind I will mention it in the related Projects-section of the wiki.

If you like you can extend your Installation instructions.
Look at hamish's drawing dimensioning readme.md for reference.

Maybe you will also think about hosting it at github ? (just a suggestion).

Once again thanks for sharing.

Well, if you integrate Ulrich's macro into it is already one addition more. Maybe somebody else has some other macros/scripts to integrate...

Thinks grow slowly, but it is nice to have this in "Workbench form".

Well in fact I was already planning that, and got Ulrich's permission.
It is now integrated inside!
Thanks Ulrich!

Hi Everyone,

I have updated the workbench to use Ulrich's latest version (17).
It seems to solve several unfolding issues.

Ubuntu users: if you installed the Sheet metal workbench from the FreeCAD Community Extras PPA, you will get the update automatically.
