You picked the right forum (Developer's Corner), but you really should have started your own thread for this. You could also have posted in Open Discussion, or in a forum dedicated to the module / workbench you're working on.

Also, it's best to post about your feature *before* submitting a pull request.

Perhaps a moderator can split this off?

I've seen quite a few pull requests merged that involved the expression system.
The current version of the release notes page says only that, as part of App:Link, changes were made that affect Expressions. It says the changes are described in the 'core changes' page which links to RealThunders github wiki. But that page says the changes aren't considered mature and aren't merged to upstream.

So, can someone summarize what has actually changed about Expressions? What's still pending or likely to be merged into 0.19?

Due to heavy development through the whole development cycle likely Curves workbench deserve a nice image, something like:

And in addition to mention its capability for creating Gordon surface:

I cannot confirm improvements compared to 0.18. In the opposite: It has been stated several times that the names given to sketch dimensions are no longer available to the autocompleter. (Personally I would rather have the old system back than having the improved expression engine without this auto completion.)
