App::Part + PartDesign::SubShapeBinder
follow my experiments on BIM modelling for architecture design
Re: Equivalent in FreeCAD for AutoCAD blocks
There are many more workflows too... Part Compound + App Link or simply Draft Clone
Re: Equivalent in FreeCAD for AutoCAD blocks
There is nothing like ACAD Blocks.
The question is what you like reach?
For the no ACAD people. A Block is a model file, witch is an part in the Drawing and can place several times. If you change one all of them change.
If you place a new Block with the same name. You get a question to update the existing Blocks.
You can add some model elements end export them as Block.
A block can have sup sup sup...... blocks. And the block is not linked with the file in your HDD parth.
The layer structure in a Block will import by placing the block.
Blocks can have visible and invisible Attributes. It can be linked withe a datebase.
And you can do some other crasy thinks with it.

If you don't know anything, you don't have to do anything.

Re: Equivalent in FreeCAD for AutoCAD blocks
Hello I was doing some tests, I find than dxf DWG import should change, a shape object is created for when a AutoCAD block object ia imported, I find than a cloned object is better option, because is possible edit just the original replicate this change to others.
I mean this is a good change and any good addition is create a block or clone manager, this for easy edition in our 2D drawings, and allow edit a cloned object could be cool too
