PMac, do you have XMPP or IRC?
I'm curious how "parametric" your plans are. I'm guessing that, like me, you're doing a lot of manual moving and have to go make a lot of changes when you find out that the sheathing you want isn't available in 1/2" but only 7/16" thicknesses.
Arch move undo doesn't work - am I doing something wrong?

Never seen or used either. Any recommendations?
Not very parametric. Changes in sizes are an issue - eg if sheets sizes, stud sizes or spacings change or window sizes / positions are changed it is a very manual process to adjust such a drawing. Have trialled low-level cloning of components such as studs for base sizes but positioning of the cloned stud remains manual. Would like to trial full standardised/parametricised stud/header assemblies as larger components as time permits.
Probably like yourself - doing it all wrong!

I got a comment that I shouldn't be moving columns and bars around manually... but... is there anyone who can't reproduce this or doesn't consider it a bug?

For IRC, there is a web client for Freenode here: https://webchat.freenode.net/
There's a #freecad channel you can join.
