Joining 2 object "pipes"

Post by mike737 »

Hi
I am trying to join 2 objects one is an 'padded' pipe sketch (ie 2 concentric circles), the other a 'revolved' sketch. However it does not work! I am OK with 2 'padded' pipe sketches. Am I missing something? ;)
Regards
Michael.

It's not quite clear what you mean by "joining". If you have built this in a single PartDesign body, subsequent features are automatically joined, as long as they overlap or touch.
If you have them in different bodies you can use the Part tools on the bodies, there are different tools especially for joining pipes or their generalization "walled objects".
A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.

Mike, at first welcome to the forum

My guess is that you are working in the Part design workbench. In a body you do not need to join the shapes you made because Freecad sees a body as one solid.

The Part workbench is different because there you need to do a boolean union of the different shapes you made to get one solid
