Looking for help with Youtube video creation.

Post by keithsloan52 »

Just wondering if there are any users out there with experience of creating Youtube videos of FreeCAD use that
could create a number of short videos on use of the GDML workbench and save me the learning curve so I can
concentrate on coding.

There are two versions of the workbench - but hopefully the New Style will work as well as the old. The sort of video I would like to see created are

1) Load of file - Sample Files/CERN/lhcbvelo.gdml
Examine model by using the facility to wireframe Objects and their children - i.e. Select Object and use Cycle Object and all children displayed,
Plus normal FreeCAD Zoom, rotate etc

2) The Sample Files/CERN/Alice/alice.gdml is too large to load - So use scan option rather than import, Still takes a while so
need to cut and annotate video during scan, but having done a scan then use the select volume and expand icon to expand
individual volume, could try one or several

3) Load Sample Files/PIPS2.gdml
Navigate in property window to say GDML_Tube_PIPS_UpperCase
Adjust tube parameters i.e. Radius and see effect
Select PIPS Volume ( FreeCAD Part ) Click on create a Compound ( C icon )
Select Compound - Switch to FEM workbench
Add constraints etc to run a thermal test of heat applied to one end of tube
Carry out FEM analyses as usual

4) Select of GDML file, export as STEP, Load into SolidWorks

Many Thanks

You can just record your screen and upload the mp4 file to youtube. I've been making a series of video tutorials using OBS. I just record all in one go and not do much in the way of video editing ("not do much" as in no editing at all).
