He's BAAACK! (was "Developer Wandererfan absence")

Post by jmaustpc »

I am sorry to announce that due to circumstances beyond his control, Chris "Wandererfan" will be absent from FreeCAD for the foreseeable future. He may possibly be able to check in on FreeCAD on rare occasions but will not be able to continue with his contributions here to any great extent, if at all.

We very much wish him well and sincerely hope that some time in the future he will be able to return.

Chris has been here for about 8 years now. He has been a highly valued, productive developer and community member. Several years ago Chris took on the development of what has become the TechDraw workbench. The workbench had originally been started by Luke Parry "mrlukeparry".

Chris is high up in our top ten list of most prolific developers in terms of the number of commits to our Git repository. During the time since Chris registered, FreeCAD has grown from approximately 13 hundred forum registrations to approximately 36 thousand!

For myself personally I want to add that I have genuinely very much enjoyed my association with Chris. He has been pleasant, friendly and gentlemanly. I think of him as a friend.

Chris notified a few of us about this privately almost three weeks ago. As a sign of respect we have decided to create this public announcement. We will leave it as a Global announcement for a period of time.

Thank you very much for the information. I love what wandererfan (especially) did to TechDraw. Wandererfan, I which you all the best and really hope that you're going to be able to "be back here" some day.

Hello, although I have rarely used the TechaDraw bench, it has enormous potential. Thank you very much for everything you have done, I hope you can solve your situation and come back soon.

A few months ago I was new here in the forum and I got to know Wandererfan via the TechDraw workbench. It was he who answered my beginner questions and gave me an idea of how great the Freecad community is.
Thank you for that @wanderefan and all the best for your future!
