The important part is the

Code: Select all

if obj.PotentialEnabled:
which is in the above commit missing :!:

The second if....

Code: Select all

if hasattr(obj, 'Potential'):
is more a check if the later on needed information is available.

Re: Elmer electrostatics FEM

I also have implemented the farfield/electric-infinity boundary condition and the settings for calculating the capacitance matrix. This needs some extra polish which I will be able to do within a few days. The current files can be found attached.

I struggle a bit with git and want to use this to document the procedure (again...and again I know). Where do I find documentation for the steps after cloning (git clone https://github.com/berndhahnebach/FreeCAD_bhb) like connecting my github-user and doing a commit?

Hi Bernd,
Can you please test my electrostatics_BSs branch at:
https://github.com/HoWilgh/FreeCAD/tree ... tatics_BCs
I compiled it with "cmake -DBUILD_QT5=ON -DPYTHON_EXECUTABLE=/usr/bin/python3 ../freecad-source"

and get on Ubuntu 18.04 a

Code: Select all

/freecad-build/bin$ ./FreeCAD

Next steps just for documentation:
  • code cleanup and adding test (if capacitance matrix selected in equation than..
  • add the 'constant' 'Permittivity Of Vacuum' into the equation dialogue
  • add the equation 'Electric Force' and according boundary conditions (see https://www.nic.funet.fi/index/elmer/do ... nonGUI.pdf page 30)

is this for the example posted earlier in this topic? Does this run? I would like to add such example to the official FreeCAD FEM examples. I have added a few allready ... https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/tree ... emexamples all coded in Python :D

Yes

95% of it. If this merge is done than I will add point 1+2 and the model/example of the tutorial will be finished.
Point 3 is an extra which is interesting for me.
