Anyone knows 'House of Cards' ? - The Waterrower

Post by rubylion »

Hey . Eversince I saw 'House of Cards', I wanted to have this waterrower. The more I was shocked, when checkin out, how much it is. I always thought, this can't be so difficult to build myself. So I fired up FreeCAD... (well, wasn't that easy of course ;) ) The more I was workin on this, the more I was sure, that this water training machine, someone has constructed, who wanted a rowing machine, without complicated parts. That's actually what it is. No idea, why it costs around 1500$ :? kind a weird

Thanks for sharing. Nowadays it would be more appropriate to drive a generator to charge e.g. an electric car.

Oh! Very nice!

The first time I laid my eyes on that waterrower, I knew I wanted one.
However, then I saw the pricetag... and still remember how dear FreeCAD was back then a very strict teacher.

Yeah right?!
What you need:
- Some wooden planks (whatever you like, can be your bedframe or your wife's wardrobe)
- Some bike handle
- A bike gear of a one gear drive; preferable a hub gear
- A few transfer rolls
- Some ball bearings
- Some shutter cord
- A rubber band
- A carabin
- Some seatmaterial or a matching old seat
- some inline-skater wheels
- screws
- and: I haven't found a adequate object for the water bassin. But if you're curagous, you can try to bend acryl glass yourself.
- that's basicallly all the ingrediances
- Don't forget to pour from time to time.. Otherwise it would stick to the bottom of your pot ;)
estimated costs: 180 bucks (acryl glass is expansive, and depending on you wife; her wardrobe, too)

Thanx for the tip.
They got a waterpump version. Although not bad, I think I stick to the original. But if you like to build a rower with a wind turbine, it's worth a look
