Hi,

I believe the Render workbench is not complete. I suggest to export your project in .obj format to render it either in Blender (open source polygonal modeling program) or with LuxRender (also open source). There's a standalone application for Linux.

Indeed there is a long time nobody touched the raytracing module, and its features are very basic. At the moment the best (only realistic?) way is like Normand says, if you want to use povray, I believe there are several apps out there that can take an .obj file and render it... (kpovmodeler, etc)

I'm planning to give a look at the raytracing module one day, but lots of things to do before, so don't expect that very soon...
