Cannot pocket text

Post by smooth_jamie »

Hi All,

I am new to the forums. I am coming up the learning curve with FreeCAD and until now I've always been able to serach Google for the answer but now I am truely stuck and I wonder if someone can provide me with some help?

I am making a simple tea coaster with some text "literacy solutions" sunken into the base. I start in DRAFT to set out the text, convert it to a sketch, map the sketch to the face that I want to pocket into, then use "Part Design" and "Pocket" to make a pocket. However it will not create the pocket.

First it asks me to "Make independant copy (recommended)" which I click OK. Then I ask it to pocket 5mm down however I get the error message "Pocket not supported on multiple solids". If I pocket only 2 mm it seems to do something but I cannot see the pocket?

Where am I going wrong? I can pad the text or extrude up but I cannot go down. How can I get around this? For some reason I could not upload my .FCStd file so here is the onedrive link (https://1drv.ms/u/s!Atxi4MAYIpkUha1m3uW ... g?e=CCScbN)

System specs
Windows 7 32-bit
FreeCAD 0.18

I am grateful for any help.
