so to use the delete method you have to remove the fillets (or chamfers) before anything above them in the tree.

changes above a fillet or chamfer can also make the fillet fail because the edge/face can no longer support the feature. for example, if 10mm face is reduced to .5 mm and the fillet was specified as 2mm, then fillet will fail.
doh, that's right the naming changes are some of what ya have to watch out for. I've learned to do filleting last but now will practice the technique of creating planes to work from instead of attached to 3D object features. I'm a parametric nut since I come with a coding background. Thanks for explaining this over and over to all us noobs showing. Much appreciated.
