Sketcher Lecture
I've been reading the comprehensive document before working through the many exercises. I'm wondering what the advantages or disadvantages are of creating the sketch inside a body as described at para 1.2??
Re: Sketcher Lecture
If you look at the dependency graph, you see that sketches created in PartDesign are placed inside of the active body. They get an AttachmentPlacement and are attached to a plane inside of the body.
Sketches created in Sketcher are outside of all bodies.
I will check the lecture and add this information.

A Sketcher Lecture with in-depth information is available in English, auf Deutsch, en français, en español.
Re: Sketcher Lecture
Yes, understand inside/outside depending on sketcher used.
But why choose one way over the other?? What is the benefit of each??

Re: Sketcher Lecture
That's all about workflow.
If your sketch is outside a body, you must work with the CSG method (Part workbench).
If your sketch is inside a body, you must work with the feature editing method (PartDesign workbench).
Opposite assertions are true also : if you want to use the xxx method, your sketch must be xxxside a body.

Re: Sketcher Lecture
Its as simple as this, if you are PartDesign workbench then the sketch must be inside a body, but sketches can be used in many official and add-on workbenches, where most will not use the Body object.
As openbrain said, there is Part WB but also Arch wb, surfaces WB, etc., these other workbenches can have many different work flows and use the sketches for different things and in different ways.
