Traceback error when opening a .dat file

Hey i am trying to 3d print an .dat file, but when i open the file in freecad i get this error look at image. If you could tell me how to fix the problem or convert the .dat file to an stl or obj file i would be greatful.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
The only .dat format I see is Common airfoil data. Is this what you are trying to import? Can you provide an example file?

*.dat is also a FEM mesh format. See Import_Export.

Ok, so we still dont know what Andreas is importing. Since it has to be 3D printable I doubt it is come optimized FEM mesh. I could be wrong thou. We also dont know what version of FreeCAD he is using, where did he obtain that .dat file, are there other common intermediate formats, ... so many questions....
