Body glitches out of screen when trying to pad sketch

I have a Part Design body with the following hierarchy:

Body
-Origin
-Pad
--Sketch
-Sketch

I am trying to pad the sketch on the first layer of the hierarchy but every time I click the pad button the body is "flung" out of view and I am put very far away from it. Then when I try to pad the sketch it returns "Failed to validate broken face." How can I fix this?

Upload the model and we can say more. Until then a few guesses:
- The sketch is not properly closed -> use the validae Sketch tool
- you have more than one level of nesting
- you have crossing lines or T-junctions
