no dxf import

Hello,
unfortunately I have no success with import from dxf drawings.
Search with the phrase "dxf import" leads to a failure messages, so I try to open a new topic.
My freeCad version is 0.18.4 and the dxf macros are installed.
I tried several dxf formats from FastCad2D and libreCad, but not even a simple rectangle pops up in the draft area. I read the suggestions in the help section, but I see no differences to my installation. User language is german.What's wrong?
Please help!

None of my DXF files can be imported but the Freecad drawing sheets (A4, A3 ...) will be correctly loaded.

For your information I add a simple dxf, that doesn't work.

In my system the DXF loads good. Try update to Freecad 0.19. Hope that will work

Hello, thank you for your ideas,
I tried V 0.19 also - no difference.
I'll remove freecad completely and start with a new installation.
I'll report failure and - hopefully - success. I also own an older notebook with Linux installed and try there - but this would be no real solution, if it works there.

Reinstall usually doesn't help. You can try to reset the configuration with the button in the preferences. Another possibility is to delete your config files or to move them in case you want to restore them.

Problem solved.
I re-installed Freecad and deleted the old config files. Then I noticed, that there were no entries in the macro folder. With the new installation I got the new preferences mask, probably an older mask from a previous version survived, checked the python legacy and dxf install boxes - thanks to chrisb - and now -BINGO!
