I like it. Maybe you should make a .ico export and see how it looks on desktop.

I like this approach and I believe it would look great as desktop icon too. So far, I believe this one would be the most representative as a concept.

Would love to see this logo in there, hopefully Halldor can post it in SVG format.
If not I'd convert it with their permission.

I mean yeah, is cool that we all post our ideas, but it would be even cooler if we see some constructive feedback, after all this was supposed to be some sort of collaboration work, not a ego display.

So, please don't be shy... tell your thoughts about this one:

Makes an impression of a glossy paper thing. I don't think FreeCAD is polished enough for this logo yet.

Do you have an svg version?

Then is about time for people to get working on it.
My feelings about FC: is a beast! Can handle a lot of stuff... but I am surprised the interest in it isn't bigger. People are willing to make greedy corporations richer when they could contribute much less towards their own freedom!
I suck at coding... but I have other qualities that I want to put on the table, I just hope more and more people will start feeling the same now that they understood how is it when another company owns your work (reference to latest't Fusion 360 stunt).

Yes, I have a SVG version, but the design is still under development. This is why I am looking for feedback, to understand what people like or don't like about this particular design.
The idea was to have a more "abstract" logo, less figurative, less obvious.

I suggest making it a bit more "sketchy", start with a black and white version, so that gradients don't obfuscate the idea.

I like the absence of the gear icon. But something is lacking. Maybe think of something that represents both mechanical things and buildings. Or maybe make several logos, for each set of workbenches. This way you convey a tone not only for a single logo but for all the workbench icons.

Maybe let's use a survey monkey:

WDYT?
