The macro that @openBrain is working on: [Macro] Bit of help for super users
could use some icons to spiffy it up a bit. Anyone interested?

Edit: icons to replace the letter icons below. (Please follow the FreeCAD Artwork Guidelines. (Thanks for the reminder @vocx))

You should clarify which icons you actually need. Otherwise it's not very clear what you want.

Also, see Artwork Guidelines.

I think that as the macro is expected to be 'light' in the UI, icons on XPM format with limited size (maybe 16x16) could be cool. ;)

It will be challenging to make icons which are clearer than the letters; after all, it's a power user tool.

  • Python console could be some variation on the Python logo
  • Dependency Graph (which is an icon we do need (see dropdown menu Tools > Dependecy Graph)) could be some variation on the graphviz logo
  • Report View - Some sort of reporting icon (megaphone + sheet of paper fusion?)
  • Tree View - some sort of variation of a tree and menu dialog?

Since the statusbar have different style from the main interface (thinking about mouse icon), why not make these icons consistent with it rather than with toolbar icons?

Hi. I don't know how to export a svg to XPM format. All I can do is SVG files with 16x16 size. But, no sure if these icons are better to letters.
I agree to use the pattern of mouse icon.

Thanks. As it requires some significant changes in the code to integrate them, maybe it will take some time before I try it. ;)
Don't care too much about XPM, I'll do it as I integrate.
Anyway if you're curious, on Linux it's done with ImageMagick with :

Code: Select all

convert x.png x.xpm
On Windows I don't know. Maybe ImageMagick is ported. Online converters should exist too.
