The layout table, its important purpose is to define the dimensions to be used in sketches.
In today's logic, for this purpose, you need to set an alias for a specific cell and only this alias can be referenced in the sketch.
It would be correct to create an alias on the hotkey and even make a separate button, in any case, using the method available today through the right mouse button + right mouse menu navigation + in some languages, resizing the menu is very, very uncomfortable.
Aliases not in English does not want to take.
And it would be even better to set the type (property) of the column, so that what is written in it is perceived as an alias.

I agree that having direct access to an alias input field would be great.
However IIRC, you can use cell ID to reference its value in expressions. ;)

+1 on defining a column as aliases. I think it's a brilliant idea.

I'd prefer to have the alias input field eg. beside the value field on top of the spreadsheet. ;)

I haven't used them myself but There were discussions about macros creating aliases in a more comfortable way. It would be great if someone can investigate Macro SpreadsheetTools and report back.
