look of dimensions at Sketcher

Post by kaih » Tue Dec 31, 2019 1:56 pm

Hello everybody,

i'm a mechanical design engineer and i just try to make FreeCAD comfortable for me, to have a tool at home for trying new ideas if you get them in your spare time.

I found out, the look of the dimensions at Sketcher is strange in my point of view. It would be nice if the dimensions would look nearly like on a drawing. So the dimensioning number should be on top of the line instead of between. The arrow should be more thin an long as well the line thicknes should be more less for me. Is it possible for me to adjust this as i am just a user instead of developer? If it is not possible so my wish would be to make it adjustable by settings ui.

Second small thing. I'm not sure wether it's a general problem or just my system. FreeCAD neither 0.18 stable nor 0.19 (daily) show unit in sketcher properly on here. Second "m" of mm got cut as you can see on following screenshot.

Information of my system

OS: Ubuntu 19.10 (KDE/plasma)
Word size of OS: 64-bit
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.19.
Build type: Release
Python version: 3.7.5
Qt version: 5.12.4
Coin version: 4.0.0a
OCC version: 7.3.0
Locale: German/Germany (de_DE)

It's not a big deal for me as i just deactivated showing units now. I just wanted to let you know.
