FreeCAD 0.18.4 64 bit

hello when I start up FreeCAD .18 64 bit and try to start a new project it just gives me a black screen. but when I use the 32 bit it works fine but I cant get the FCgear addon to work with the 32bit only on 64bit and I am not sure what to do. I am very new to all this. Thanks

Sounds like the Graphics Card issue. See Known Issues thread

thanks I looked at that but like I said I nothing about that stuff im completely new to this.i have no clue what any of it means or what to do ill just go back to old vesion I suppose

1) Download the 0.19pre version (it changes every couple of days) https://github.com/FreeCAD/FreeCAD/rele ... nVS2015.7z
2) Download and install 7-zip https://www.7-zip.org/, if you haven't got it already
3) Extract the FreeCAD 0.19pre file using 7zip and start the application by double clicking on FreeCAD.exe in the bin sub-directory of the extracted package.

thank you im a little closer.when i do that it acts like it is opening, it shows the freecad loading screen like its starting it up but thats as far as it goes. my apps blink and the cursor wheel spins and thats it. sorry for the trouble

I agree with the others that FreeCAD is having trouble working with your graphics.
Navigate to the bin directory of the 0.19 version.
Find the file opengl32sw.dll and rename it opengl32.dll
start FreeCAD by double clicking FreeCAD.exe in the bin directory.

Ok I will try it in the morning.thank you. I never had trouble with.17 until I tried to get fcgear then I updated it

Hi,
I just wanted to say thanks for the workaround of renaming opengl32sw.dll to opengl32.dll this worked for me.
Just for others, I'm running a 64Bit Windows 10 virtual machine on a Windows Hyper-V host.

renaming the file opengl32sw.dll to opengl32.dll did the trick !
