As a newbie, I was confused why there is a Drawing and TechDraw workbench, and am here because of googling trying to understand the difference. You can have portable version of freecad (e.g. if on windows use scoop). That was people using legacy workbenches can just keep an old installation on hand for those rare cases. I currently have 2 installed versions because of the addon not working bug.

Since FreeCAD is only at 0.19 and warns about changing often, I think people understand this is not a highly polished piece of SW yet and things are changing.

Side note: I also don't understand why whenever I google how to place something, it talks about assembly workbench to link files, yet assembly workbench does not exist. As a newb I do think the workbenches list is strange, robot workbench but no sheet metal workbench. (Just was reading the wiki and now I understand about the robot workbench being written in C hence hard to remove).

I see in `Tools` -> `customize` -> `workbenches tab` one can hide certain workbenches. Why not hide the deprecated workbenches by default upon installation. That means for the common and new users there is less friction. And for the very rare person who wishes to use a deprecated workbench, then can enable it and continue.
