Various builds with one issue or another (prob my setup)

Post by pipe2null » Mon Sep 07, 2020 3:57 am

I am having a heck of a time getting an install going that both works with my spacemouse *AND* has functional FEM. I would much prefer to get a build working correctly from the repo than doing a workaround on an Appimage. I have been over the build prereq's many times and I'm pretty sure I have them all, and I build and install clean, but I'm getting errors when app trying to load Calculix results during FEM, which could mean I have a problem with my environment/missed prereq, etc, but I don't know. At this point I've tried everything I could think of, so I am open for suggestions.

I have tried:
* FreeCAD_0.19-22284-Linux-Conda_glibc2.12-x86_64.AppImage
- This crashes for me on window launch, the initial splash screen shows loading, but crashes shortly after.

*FreeCAD_0.18-16146-Linux-Conda_Py3Qt5_glibc2.12-x86_64.AppImage
-This is stable for me and generally works well, including FEM, but there appears to be some mismatch in SpaceNav libraries compared to my OS or something like that and this version of Freecad does not detect my spacemouse. Note, my spacemouse works as expected with OpenSCAD, Blender, and a built from source FreeCAD, which is next on this list.

*Built from source based on master branch:
- With some minor usage so far, this appears stable and works well with my spacemouse, but I consistently get a FEM error when attempting to load results after Calculix finishes, more on this issue below.
